Beyond The Therapy Room

Because healing doesn't happen in a vacuum.

Here’s something I’ve always struggled with, with traditional therapy. We invite you into a comfortable room (or a little square on a screen), tell you that your feelings are valid, remind you that you deserve safety, dignity, and joy, and help you develop tools to navigate life’s challenges.

And then, 55 minutes later, we send you right back out into a world that can be racist, sexist, homophobic, transphobic, ableist, classist, and downright exhausting. See you next week!

I’ve always thought there was something a little absurd about that. I call it “the gaslighting of therapy.” Not because therapy doesn’t work. I believe deeply in the power of therapy. I’ve dedicated my career to it. But because sometimes the problem isn’t your thinking, your boundaries, your emotional regulation, or your ability to cope. Sometimes the problem is that the world you’re trying to cope with is deeply unfair. And no amount of deep breathing is going to dismantle systemic oppression.

That doesn’t mean we stop helping people develop the tools to navigate their lives. It means we recognize that healing requires more than asking individuals to adapt to environments that continue to harm them. It requires connection. Community. Collective care. Advocacy. Rest. Joy. Creativity. And spaces where people don’t have to constantly explain, defend, or shrink themselves.

That’s the thinking behind Beyond the Therapy Room. We want to create opportunities for people to experience wellness outside of a clinical relationship. To find their people. To build community. To make things. To rest. To laugh. To experience joy without having to earn it. Because while therapy can help you navigate the world, you shouldn’t have to navigate it alone.

And because healing isn’t just about learning to survive the world as it is. It’s also about imagining, and helping create, the kind of world we all deserve to live in.

You can’t self-care your way out of systemic oppression.

But you can find your village.

Gather & Grow

Good things grow when we come together. Healing isn’t always quiet, serious, or something we do alone. Sometimes it looks like a room full of people sharing stories, laughing, learning, and realizing they’re not the only ones figuring this life thing out.

Through retreats, workshops, wellness gatherings, and community experiences, we’re creating opportunities to connect, recharge, and grow together.

Create & Unwind

Sometimes you need to get out of your head and into something that brings you joy.

Whether it’s coloring outside the lines, picking up a new hobby, or simply making something with your hands, creativity gives us permission to slow down, play, and just be.

We create coloring books full of culture, nostalgia, joy, and resistance. I am inspired by the things I love most: stories that celebrate who we are, memories that make us smile, and movements that remind us we're powerful together.

Rest & Restore

Self-care doesn’t have to be complicated, expensive, or another thing on your to-do list. Sometimes it’s as simple as slowing down, taking a moment for yourself, and treating your body to something that feels good.

Our Luxe Life Body Butters bring a little everyday indulgence to your self-care routine. Rich, creamy, and available in an incredible variety of fragrances, they’re designed to leave your skin feeling soft, moisturized, and beautifully scented.

From warm vanillas and sweet gourmands to fresh florals and tropical escapes, there’s a little something for everybody.

The Village in Community

Because none of us gets free alone.

We believe community care isn’t just a nice idea. It’s a responsibility.

Healing doesn’t happen in isolation, and wellness shouldn’t be a privilege reserved for those who can afford it.

At Village Wellness Collective, we’re committed to showing up beyond the therapy room, through community partnerships, advocacy, education, outreach, and opportunities to connect.

Whether we’re collaborating with local organizations, creating spaces for difficult conversations, sharing resources, or simply bringing people together, our goal is to help build communities where people feel seen, supported, and valued.

We don’t believe our work ends when the therapy session does.

Because a village isn’t just something you find. It’s something we build together.
